Joie de Vivre!
[zhwa-du-vevr] (French) Noun, literally, the joy of living.
Here at Jill O'Connor Cooks Joie de Vivre exemplifies the the kind of life we want to live. A good dinner or a fine slice of apple tart may not solve all the worldís problems, but it certainly makes our trip on this planet a whole lot tastier.
Good food entices you to keep eating even when your stomach begs for mercy (but your taste buds are screaming for more.) Iím always looking for dishes so good I canít wait to dig in, to stick my fork or fingers into it, grabbing without thinking of burnt or messy fingers, or being polite. Great food should fill your mind and your belly and for a brief moment, while you are enjoying it, block any other thoughts from creeping in.
A fine meal can help you forget your troubles for a few moments; forget your bad hair day, your failures in work or love. For one tiny flash in time, the joy found in tasting something delicious defines the essence of joie de vivre, and what it means to live in the moment.
Obviously I love food and I love to cook, but I also love to read about food; sitting on my couch with a book, or in my office with only the hum of the computer to keep me company. Come join me on my Blog as I explore a world of different flavors and tackle a host of helpful cooking techniques that ensure easy everyday cooking and stress-free special occasions that sparkle--from an elegant feast to the eye-popping extreme foods found at the county fair. Iíll highlight it all, plain and fancy, to please every mood and whim.
Come on over, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a chair and join me as I search for food that makes your mouth water.
